Peace and Security Studies - University of Hamburg

As the first master’s degree of its kind in Germany, the MA in Peace and Security Studies (MPS) is a two-semester, interdisciplinary degree program in which students acquire knowledge of peace research theory and security policy as well as practical expertise. The program thus pursues both trans-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary approaches involving the natural sciences, the social sciences, and law.

The aim of the program is to introduce highly-qualified graduates from German and foreign universities as well as academically trained professionals to debates and approaches in peace research and security policy. Universität Hamburg offers the program jointly with the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy at Universität Hamburg (IFSH) in conjunction with leading academic and security policy institutions as part of the Cooperation Network for peace research and security policy (Kooperationsverbund Friedensforschung und Sicherheitspolitik—KoFrieS).
